Dear Betsy: It's time to hear survivors.
Loud and clear.
In January, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos refused to commit to protecting survivors of sexual violence under Title IX. Now, she’s posing a full-blown risk to its future. The Trump administration has indicated they are seriously considering going back on their commitment to campus safety, by rescinding guidance that helps enforce Title IX, which ensures that students can receive an education free of gender-based violence and discrimination.
Survivors have refused to be silent at every step of the administration’s journey to the White House — and we won’t be silenced now. It is time for us to be louder than ever and remind them we’ll be with there every step of the way ahead.
